I am using PSIM 2026.1 with an Altair Student Edition license.
I previously contacted Academic Support, but I was instructed to post this issue in the Altair Community because Student Edition support is handled here.
Important: I have already set the system environment variable:
ALM_HHWU=F
I restarted Windows after applying the setting, but the issue still occurs.
My Student Edition license was successfully generated and is valid until June 18, 2027. The Ethernet HostID in the license file matches the HostID of my current computer.
The generated .lic file contains the following features:
- HyperViewTrans
- HyperWorksEDU
- romAI
I could not find any PSIM-related feature such as:
- PSIM
- PSIMPowerSupply
- PSIMPowerSupplyFeature
PSIM launches, but the following commands normally do not respond:
- New
- Open
- Open Examples
- New Project
- Open Project
No window opens and no error message appears when these commands are clicked.
However, Search Examples opens normally.
After PSIM remains open for some time, the following warning appears:
“Connection to the license server is lost.
Please save your work and exit.”
When I click OK, PSIM closes.
The ALMUtil License Usage tab also remains at “Contacting license servers” and does not display usable PSIM license information.
I have confirmed the following:
- The license file exists in C:\ProgramData\altair\licenses.
- The Ethernet HostID in the license file matches the current computer.
- ALM_HHWU is set to F as a system environment variable.
- Windows has been restarted.
- The license was activated in the System license store.
There was also one intermittent occurrence: an instance of PSIM that had been left open overnight briefly allowed New and Open to work. However, the license-server-disconnected warning was already displayed, and PSIM closed after I clicked OK. After restarting PSIM, New and Open became unresponsive again.
Could an Altair employee please verify whether the required PSIM entitlement or PSIMPowerSupply feature is missing from my Student Edition license, or whether this is a PSIM 2026.1 license initialization issue?
