How do you install Altair SLC 2024 on wine 6 running on Linux Mint (Ubuntu)?

I have successfully installed Altair Analytics Workbench 05.24.02.00.1514 on wine 6 running on Linux Mint 21 (Ubuntu 22.04) using the *.msi installer.

When I tried to install Altair SLC 05.24.02.00.1514 the same way, I get these errors:

MESA-INTEL: warning: Bay Trail Vulcan support is incomplete
0024:err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot
0024:err:msi:execute_script Execution of script 0 halted; action L"[1\0080Altair SLC 2024 Hub Ondemand Runtime\00802147483647\0080*\00800\00802\0080C:\\Program Files\\Altair\\SLC\\2024\\bin\\wpsondmk.exe\0080\0080-2147483648\0080\00801\0080Altair SLC 2024 Hub Library Server\0080214783647\00800\00802\0080C:\\Program Files\\Altair\\SLC\\2024\\bin\\w"… returned 1603
0024:err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"InstallFinalize" returned 1603
0024:err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"ExecuteAction" returned 1603

I'm running the install using:

sudo wine msiexec -i altairslc-5.24.2.1514-ga-maintenance-windows-x86_64.msi

    Hi Philip,

Unfortunately we don't support running SLC under Wine.

But we do have a Linux version of Workbench available…

On a technical note, I am running Linux Mint 21 and the installation of Workbench 5.24.2.0.1334 failed using gdebi. However, it was successfully installed using sudo dpkg -i in a Linux Terminal window. It is possible that gdebi was not being run in administrator mode.

    Hi @Nico Chart_21517 ,

I didn't realise there was a Workbench installation for Linux, so I will give it a try, as I want to stretch my Altair Units so far that they show me the error messages when I run out.

    Many thanks…………..Phil

It works, but doesn't stretch my Altair Units. The Altair SLC for Linux on that laptop is used by my Windows Workbench too, so I can now see that, between them, they only consume 40 units in total.

    Thanks…………Phil
