Overview

A drop test scenario has been devised for consumer electronics, focusing on the phone's housing and display, which are depicted as flexible bodies. To accurately represent the internal components, appropriate mass and inertia values are assigned. By utilizing Euler angle rotations (Yaw-Pitch-Roll), users can finely adjust orientations to identify potential worst-case impact scenarios.

Through the integration of Altair MotionSolve and Hyperstudy, the process is automated in V2023. Initially, the model undergoes a drop, after which the solver generates enhanced loadsets for each flexible body that encountered contact. These loadsets are utilized to refine the modal properties of the flexible bodies. Subsequently, the model is subjected to another drop using the enhanced files. The maximum stress experienced by each flexible body is recorded.

This page contains the first exercise in setting up the rigid model in MotionView and initiating a drop.
