Altair Control 2022.1.0 Release Highlights

Hi, Altair Control 2022.1 is released - this is a significant update to the Control package and it is recommended to update to this version to maintain the highest compatibility with our supported cloud vendors and to take advantage of new capabilities across those clouds.

Release Highlights:

  • Cloud Support Enhancements:
    • AliCloud:
      • New cloud connector
    • AWS:
      • Add support for high speed (EFA) network adapters
      • Extended Tagging of Burst Resources (instances, storage and placement groups)
      • Multi-Security Groups per scenario
      • Burst from behind a proxy
    • Azure:
      • Minimise required permissions when bursting
        • Permissions needed limited to within a Resource Group
      • Burst from behind a proxy
    • OCI Cloud (Oracle):
      • RDMA enhancement: Focussed on scaling strategy (see Simulator note below) and robustness for Bare Metal (BM) low latency network (RDMA) instances
  • Optimised Cloud Scaling Enhancements:
    • Multi-threaded Scaling (enhanced scaling performance when using BM instances and VMs)
    • PBS Pro ‘Simulator Driven’ Bursting
      • Optimisation of burst resources (minimise)
      • Optimal management of low latency network groups (maximise chances of obtaining topologically close instances)
    • Consider Application license availability before bursting (e.g. RADIOSS etc)
    • Consider Budget availability before bursting (when using PBS Budgets)
  • Deployment Optimisation
    • Installation Process optimisation: remove pycrypto requirement for easier online and offline installation
  • Product Quality and Supportability:
    • Multiple Analyse bug fixes
    • Security related updates
    • Logging of burst denials due to disabled scenarios (PBS Pro server logs)

The software and documentation are updated and the latest copies should be used.
