Hi,

I have optimized a model using topology optimization. I would like to know about the stresses(in non design space) that are shown in hyperview at some iteration (Ex: 24 iteration). What do they signifiy? Why am i not able to see the stresses in design space?

Thanks in advance

The design space is made up of semi dense elements (even in a very discrete model) so stresses aren't very meaningful because it is more a conceptual design and essential suspended in a foam or sponge. Stresses on non-design space, though they obviously won't match the final design, should be fairly reliable because the load distribution outside the design space is fairly well represented even with semi-dense elements. All of this will very by case though so make sure to use your engineering judgement for your specific case.
