What causes OptiStruct Error #1031 and how to fix it ?

Good evening everyone,

Currently, I am busy with Rattle risk assessments using ALTAIR Squeak and Rattle Director (in HyperWorks 2022.3).

After I finished my FE-model, added gap dimension data to the E-Lines and applied a load signal from a .csv-file, I started running the analysis using ALTAIR OptiStruct.

Unfortunately, I got the error message shown below: Error #1031 - Too many continuation cards.

Since I cannot find any useful information about this error code in the forum or on the internet, I hope someone here can explain to me what causes the error and how I can solve it.

Just summarizing our talk here. Using the Model Checker to identity potential modelling errors and warnings that could lead to an OptiStruct error.

Also, for dynamic analysis it is important to input the density of all materials. Density will be used to build the Mass Matrix in the solver.

Hello Fabian,

This error means that in the .fem file, on line 1316697, there is a continuation line (an extra line on the deck) probably blank or with a "+". This information is not defined according to MAT1 rules, hence the error.

Can you please double-check the deck? If you can share it, I can review it for you too.

by the way, start chekcing Material with ID #1. But probably not only this one.

You might have clicked or enabled some extra option in your material card, and have not provided the correct input, as mentioned by Vinicius.

Since I'm still a beginner with FE-modeling, it is very likely that I made a mistake there.

Therefore, I would be very happy if you could review the file. However, before providing the deck to you, I need to double check with my supervisor tomorrow if I'm allowed to share it. I assume that you need the .hm and .fem file, right ?

Is there an option to send you the files in a private chat (e-mail, etc.) ? I think this would satisfy our company data protection guidelines.
