extrusion for complex geometry

Hi there,

I wanted to know if it is possible to extrude the mesh for following geometry.

When i try to extrude the geometry, it does not allow me to select the solids. Is it because the geometry is complex? Does it allow me to extrude the mesh on only one solid of the model?

Extrusion only works within extrudable geometry/solids - where there is a clear, unbroken topological path from the source face to the destination face.  That geometry does not seem to fit that definition of extrudable.
