Press-Fit Contact modeling in Simlab using Optistuct Solber

Hi,
does anyone know how to model a pressfit contact in Simlab using Optistruct Solber?
Thank you.
Best regards

Hello Julio,
To simulate a press fit contact one needs to enable the clearance value, as Santhoshkumar mentions above. To simulate a press-fit contact you need to input a value<0 in the clearance field. You also need to define a Non-Linear structutal solution. I am going to attach a screenshot that will probably help you understand the parameter a bit better.
I hope these pictures help.
Kindly,
Ioannis Makris

Thank you both!
It was really helpful.
Best regards
Julio

Hi again,
I have adjusted the clearance as indicated but during the running of the simulation I get this error message:
"
A fatal error has occurred during computations:
*** ERROR # 2605 ***
CONTACT interface 88 has Secondary node 1556 that lies exactly on the
Main surface with OPENGAP option. Impossible to define pushout direction.
*** PROGRAM STOPPED: FATAL ERROR(s) ENCOUNTERED.
"
I have tried with several options, like Overlap, but unfortunatelly the problem is not solved.
Any idea?
Thank you

Hello Julio,
I get the feeling that we are speaking about shell elements here and not solids. Is that the case?

Hi Ioannis,
yes, it was about shell elements. I have already corrected it. I am very new to Altair, therefore not still fully familiarized.
Thank you.
Best regards

Hello Julio,
Do you want define the clearance in the contact (or) you want to design the snapfit?
To define clearance in the contact, please refer the below image.
Thanks & Regards,
Santhoshkumar
