Which version of OptiStruct you are using? Please share the .out file of the run.

    Hi @tejas6

group1 & 2 should be changed from stick to freeze contact.

Self contact for the spring can be set-up with S2S and CONSLI. However, the model fails to converge beyond 75% with errors:

    *** ERROR # 4965 ***
Maximum number of time increment cutbacks reached,
     analysis aborted.

     *** ERROR # 5905 ***
     Severe element distortion detected,
     analysis aborted.

Because the model undergoes geometric and contact nonlinearities it could be solved more computationally efficient with Radioss explicit solver.

If the solver reports excessive mesh distortion, consider the following reasons:

    • Excessive or unrealistic loading
    • Over-constrained FE model
    • Inconsistent unit system between model, material and/or loading that lead to excessive deformation

Reviewing the last non-converged iteration in HyperView will help

Please refer to attached model from OptiStruct example guide.
