Mesh transition coarse to finer - Easy way to create nodal ties?
A simple mesh is created with coarse and fine elements:
There are two nodes indicated in red which are not properly connected, as is clearly visible in the displacement results below:
Aside from using a triangle/trapezoid transition mesh, a nodal tie can also solve this problem? In this case, the displacement of the red node would need to be tied to the corners of the adjacent bigger element.
My question:
Is there an easy way to make such nodal ties (or maybe alternative way to solve this problem)? Especially for larger meshes an automatic method would be needed (assuming floating nodes are always centered on the edge of a larger element)?

Hi Greg,
After placing the RSPLINE elements for DOF's 123456, results improved but are not as expected.
Expected: uniform stress (only achieved with constant mesh):
But with mesh transition and RSPLINE I still see:
