Missing tools After SimLab installation
Hello,
I installed SimLab but missing lot of tools like meshing and all as you can see in the image. I also watched related videos addressing this problem and tried reconfiguration the software to choose different solver options like selecting Altair solvers and non-Altair solvers or Altair solvers only which is explained in one of the videos but I´m not getting this option at all to choose. Could you please help me with this problem?
Thank you and best regards

Hello Marc,
Thank you so much for your help. now it's working. I have one more problem with the Optistruct installation. I installed hw2025 and mechanical solvers including Simlab as you can see in the image. But after installation was done I couldn´t find the OptiStruct Application. I can only see Compute Console 2025 and other applications but not OptiStruct. If possible, Can you please help me to get OptiStruct?
Thank you and best regards
Hi,
Please download in the AltairOne marketplace additional files. Once you've done this, unzip it and you'll see a folder called "solvers". Head to your SimLab installation path. For example: "C:\Program Files\Altair\2024.1\SimLab\bin\win64" . Head specifically, to bin/win64 in there you'll find the same folder "solvers", replace it for the one unziped.
Kind regards,
Marc
Hello,
For SimLab you don't need to install mechanical solver. With the additional files it contains it. If you have SimLab install, follow the steps suggested and that should fix it.
For the export, I believe this is due to your student license. You can export the solver deck for OS by creating your solution than right clicking on the name of the solution and export solver deck.
Hope this helps
Kind regards,
Marc
Hello Marc,
Thank you. My question was regarding the Optistruct and I couldn´t find the application after installing the Optistruct. I can see Simlab and use it without any problem except exporting. If possible, could you please help me with how to get an Optistruct application?
Thank you and best regards
OptiStruct is the solver. You can run through SimLab or HyperMesh, for example. Depends on what you want to do. In the SimLab learning center under Solutions > Structural you can find plenty of tutorials on how to run OptiStruct/Structural solutions through SimLab:

Hello Marc,
i have just watched how to create superelements in Simlab. I noticed that in video they selected EXCITE as solution type under model reduction solution as you can see in the image 1 but in my simlab i can only see motionsolver under model reduction as you can see in image 2. Is this also because of student edition?
Hi,
Yes, I believe all is due to the license student. I asked about it and got this answer:
SimLab with Student license has restricted usage. Users can only import the model and do a simulation.
What you see is what you can use. You can export the solver deck if you start a solution and recover the fem. As a workaround I can tell you.
Kind regards,
Marc
Hello,
That is due to your student license. Please create a solution and you'll find the rest of the ribbons once created. Thank you!
