Overview

Here you can find the documentation and example model of the Timoshenko Beam Bonded Particle Model. This novel bonded contact model is based on the Timoshenko beam theory and has been developed by the University of Edinburgh in 2015.

The example guide details the response of a cemented granular material under loading and could be suitable for other materials such as concretes/rocks.

Reference Manual:EBPM_RefrenceManual.pdf

Example Case Documentation and Simulation Files: ExampleConcreteCylinder.zip

Compiled Library File and preference file: EdinburghBondedPartilceModel.zip
Time Step Calculation Docs: TimeStepCalculation.xlsx

Attached are some screenshots from the example case. These screenshots show the ‘Damage’ property (ratio of broken to initial bonds per particle), we can see the failure method of the structure from this case. The screenshots are taken at the peak force and just after.

    Hi Shyam,

We don't have the API code for this, it is managed by the authors at Edinburgh University.  I'd recommend contacting Dr Morrissey to discuss access - https://www.eng.ed.ac.uk/about/people/dr-john-morrissey

    Regards

    Stephen
