Topology optimization on coupled thermal-structural model

Hi,

 

I´m trying to perform a topology optimization for coupled thermal-structural loading with the aim of minimizing compliance for a certain initial volume fraction. 

How can I act on minimizing the structural compliance only while setting a constraint on the thermal one when considering the coupled loadstep? 

Or is there any suggestion on how to best approach such a topology optimization ?

    Thank you Rahul for your quick response. But I am missing the point: if I do minimize thermal compliance on the thermal model it works but I am not able to minimize the overall compliance on the coupled model, featuring also pressure loads and in particular to constrain the thermal one while minimizing the structural compliance one. Is there a way to act on the coupled loadstep to do so?

    Actually I have an other question on the model you sent me: how are you able to consider convection on both design and non design space? 

    I tried with CHBDYE elements but nothing worked, not even if I limited in the non design space when trying to minimize thermal compliance.

    This the related error:

     

      *** ERROR # 5008 ***
      Heat transfer subcase ID = 1 has convection and thermal compliance
      response.
      Optimization with thermal compliance cannot continue.

    Can you please tell me how to assign thermal compliance to a heat transfer subcase?

    Can you please let me know what do you mean by this? I wanted to minimize compliance (not thermal compliance) on a coupled thermal-structural coupled model. The result I am getting not removing material at all almost!
