I'm trying to simulate a tensile test like ASTM D 3039 in either optistruct or radioss.

The material data I made through Multiscale Designer. I could assign that property (mdsMAT.dat) into Optistruct using matmds card. and I made specimen got some BCs and ran the solver in Nonlinear static, which I meant to see some failure.

I have put forced displacement on one side SPCs to give a tension on specimen. And I'm not sure about it but I put HASH card in FTimage

for the failure calculation.

expecting get this kind of result. I'm keep getting an error of this.

So, optistruct nonliear static solver is not suitable in this case? and better to move on Radioss? ( I tried NLEXPL in optistruct but matmds type of mat  card is not available) Thanks

    /Hi,

for your usecase you can use OS + MDS combined, but your model should be a solid mesh (PSOLID), with MATMDS. PCOMPP will calculate failure index, but not delete elements.

This webinar shows the process in an open hole test coupon.

By the way, for a dogbone coupon, MDS can perform this macro test that you're looking for, directly as well.
