PSIM 2026.1 Student Edition – Active Features Empty / Cannot Create New Schematic

Hello,

I installed PSIM Professional 2026.1.0.8096 and successfully activated my Altair Student Edition license. However, I cannot create a new schematic.

In Help → About PSIM, the “Active Features” section is completely empty. PSIM also shows the following error message:

“Connection to the license server is lost. The application will shut down.”

I have already reinstalled PSIM, rebooted my PC, and reactivated the Student Edition license. The Altair License Utility also reports that the license already exists in the license store.

Could you please check whether my Student Edition license includes the required PSIM entitlement/features, and reset or reissue the license if necessary?

If you need to use Altair managed licenses that your university has, follow the procedure here - https://community.altair.com/discussion/61871/using-the-academic-edition-licensed-with-altair-units-via-altair-one-altair-managed-licensing#latest

Please set an environment variable with name ALM_HHWU and value T to use just the managed licensing. To disconnect from the managed licensing, please set an environment variable with name ALM_HHWU and value F.

Once done please use either just the free student edition license or the managed licensing activation methods.
