License file disappeared, unable to recover

Question

Hello,

Months into using PSIM, I got a popup saying I had 30 days left on my license. My student edition license activation key should be valid well into 2027.

I looked for my license file, and it has disappeared. I haven't touched the license file and its not in my recycling bin.

I tried to create a new license with my activation key in the altair license utility. I get the error "The license was already activated using different host IDs.". I have been using the same laptop for months with no changes.

I tried to deactivate my license. I get error "license not found".

Please help. I need access for my uni classes.

If you were using Altair managed licenses as per -

https://community.altair.com/discussion/61871/using-the-academic-edition-licensed-with-altair-units-via-altair-one-altair-managed-licensing

and need to disconnect, please set an environment variable with name ALM_HHWU and value F to disconnect from managed licensing and use the student edition license. You can set it to T to use just the managed licensing.

Once done please use either just the free student edition license or the managed licensing activation methods.

Thank you, I now have a *.lic file, but PSIM isn't recognising it. I am still on the license countdown. I can't see a *.dat file.

In PSIM, my license file path matches the location of the license file. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
