What type of damping to be used for base motion acceleration based steady state dynamic(modal) step?

I am working on dynamic analysis of a condenser assembly, a steady-state dynamic (modal) step. Which type of damping should I consider: modal direct damping or structural damping? I am using a damping coefficient of 6%. When I ran simulations for both dampings, I got different results. Please guide.

Modal damping and structural damping are different mathematical representations and therefore do not yield equivalent results. The choice between them must be based on the type of damping data available and the physical behavior of your structure.
