Altair FluxMotor 2026
FluxMotor 2026 introduces a modern, intuitive interface that’s more than just a fresh look—it’s a smarter way to work. With harmonized inputs and streamlined interactions across all modules, designing motors has never been easier. A standout addition is the 3D motor view, giving you a clear, interactive visualization of your design for better understanding and faster decisions. And this is not all, this release is packed with great additions to enhance your workflows !
CUSTOMIZE YOUR FLUXMOTOR PARTS
FluxMotor is coming with a complete set of predefined parts which are fully parameterized and ready to use. Nevertheless, because your design may not be exaclty the same, you can now easily create your own part in the SimLab sketcher, parameterize and use it directly into FluxMotor. This offers you a great flexibility and opens the power of FluxMotor to all your designs. This is applicable to synchronous motor permanent machines design and it extends now to salient poles for wound field machines.

ADVANCED THERMAL MODELING FOR SMWF
For the first time, FluxMotor delivers a complete thermal analysis workflow for Wound Field Synchronous Machines (SMWF), enabling engineers to design, optimize, and validate with great accuracy.
Engineers can now model both internal and external cooling mechanisms, from forced and natural convection to radiation and conduction, with calibration options for ultimate precision. Housing features, fins, and dedicated cooling circuits can be integrated directly into the machine design, ensuring realistic thermal performance.
Two specialized thermal tests—steady-state and transient—provide insights into continuous operation, overload behavior, and thermal cycling, helping you predict hot spots and optimize duty cycles. For deeper analysis, you can export to Flow Simulator, with ready-to-use templates for steady-state and transient studies, enabling advanced CFD modeling and system-level thermal validation.
New in this version, is the ability to consider shaft cooling. This can be applied to all inner rotor machines you find in FluxMotor.

A CONNECTED WORKFLOW
With its latest release, FluxMotor makes it easier to transfer your designs to SimLab for advanced multiphysics simulation. A new Export function lets you choose between the traditional Flux environment or SimLab with just a click—giving you flexibility and speed without changing your process.
From FluxMotor to SimLab. Get your 2D or 3D FEA models ready in a few minutes.
Motors you are designing are parts of wider systems and are connected to other external components. To make sure the motor is really answering the need of the system, and to optimize the system itself, the connection with 1D tools is essential. Simcenter Amesim is a leading solution when it comes to modeling e-drives in 1D and analyse system performance. FluxMotor is now able to export models that can be directly used by Amesim with various levels of fidelity, depending on the accuracy that is required.
