Cant see contours in my simulation?

I am simulating a flow through porous cylinder mimicking metal hydride LaNi5. After solving, I dont see my model displayed in the results section. There is proof of the simulation being completed as shown in the convergence plots. However, this is what appears on my screen after solving.

When I hover over with the mouse, there is only a dotted outline of the model I made.

And when clicking on the dotted lines of the model I get this bland colour.

If species_1 = 1, that means that location is 100% mass fraction species_1.

Yes - it appears there is no momentum-source, species-source, etc. in SimLab. You can see the list of available body-forces here:

Hi there,

If you are working in Hyperworks CFD you will need to go to the top menu and click in "Post"; after that you will need to click in the folder icon and upload the file first .log file that appears in the open window.

If you are working in SimLab; the results are displayed right after the simulations is solved.

Hello,

Can you provide more information? When you close acuProbe are you given the choice of Multiphysics or Flow post processing?

What happens when you hide and show results again? Are you able to visualize it then? Or attach the results?

You could also try attaching the results separately. It looks like you're using SimLab. I would suggest open a new SimLab instance (start SimLab again), then Open the database you've been using. This should have the Solution already defined. Right-click the Solution name and select Attach Results. Browse to the directory that contains the .Log file for the completed run, and select that .Log file to open that results set.

I also notice from the AcuProbe window that while flow and temperature have converged nicely, species has not. There may be other details with the model itself to be resolved, but I wouldn't expect that to prohibit opening the results. Are you able to attach the .Log file to this ticket - or at least screenshot(s) showing maybe the last time step and the summary (min/max/average) at the end?

Yes im given the choice of multiphysics or flow. I chose multiphysics. I tried showing and hiding results with no luck.

Does 'Fit View' in the set of display control icons along the bottom do anything?

You can see some of the velocity values are very large - but I don't know that would really make Post difficult. Within the .Log file - just before the domain decomposition portion of AcuPrep - you will see the min/max/extents of the overall domain. Can you attach a snapshot of that, too? I'm wondering if that's very, very large, or very, very small…

If you have HyperMesh CFD - can you try opening the .Log file into Post? (It will need to be the same version as SimLab - or higher. It looks like you're using SimLab 2025. Can you download/install SimLab 2025.1 - recently released - and see if that will open the results.)

If you're familiar with acuTrans from the AcuSolve Command Prompt - if you create the H3D format results file - will that open as expected in SimLab? You can also use the AcuOut tool from SimLab - under the Results pull-down from the Results ribbon - to create the H3D file.

Is this what you are referring to (snapshot)? Unfortunately I dont have Hypermesh CFD but I will try the acuTrans AcuOut tool.

Could It also be an issue with my species_1 not converging, mentioned by your earlier post?

Yes - that's the part I wanted. So - this indicates the geometry/domain sizes are:

0.072 in X
0.055 in Y
0.055 in Z

What units/dimension does that represent? Is that consistent with meters? millimeters? Etc. Then in the previous image you have

Minimum X-Velocity -360 / Maximum X-Velocity 1829
Minimum Y-Velocity -277 / Maximum Y-Velocity 241
Minimum Z-Velocity -415 / Maximum Z-Velocity 284

If the dimensions represent meters, then do those velocity values represent m/s?

And species averages 1.57E4. Where it should be between 0 and 1 (with sometimes minor over/undershoot)

I'm guessing there are issues with the model. Not necessarily the reason Post doesn't show much, but maybe issues… Can you attach the input file itself (the .inp file)? Or maybe you can determine if the setup / geometry is correct or not. I also see only 11 Thousand nodes in the model - typically that would be a very coarse mesh.

Yes, the dimensions are supposed to be a cylinder of 55mm radius and 72mm length, however the velocity is measured in mm/s. My species was set to 19000 which represented the concentration of hydrogen (1.9e4 mol/m^3) gas. Here is the .inp file and as for the number of nodes, it should be higher. Another question about the species, I get that it is a scalar value, but is the input supposed to be between 0 and 1 or just the solver output?

I have taken in your suggestions. I've run a simulation without the species and set the pressure drop so the total change between inlet and outlet is 1000pa compared to 2e6 Pa. Unfortunately I see no visual results (contours). Here is the new .inp file. I have also changed from transient to steady state with a total maximum of time steps edited from 100 to 1000 for convergence.

For more context. I am trying to run a simulation through a porous medium where im trying to simulate hydrogen absorption. I haven't found a way to mimic absorption in the software yet so the model ive created is essentially a simplified version with only pressure, temperature, and velocity changes in mind.

Did the velocity show more expected min/max than the previous run?

Did you also try 'Flow' post instead of MultiPhysics?

Earlier we discussed creating H3D file using AcuOut. Were you able to make that H3D file? Did that show results in SimLab? Can you attach that here? (There may be multiple files ending with .h3d - attach all.)

These open just fine for me in HyperMesh CFD 2025 and 2025.1. (You open Flow_3.h3d - not the other with the time step. That is opened by Flow_3.h3d.)

The results also open fine with SimLab 2025 and 2025.1: File > Import > Results

What is your graphics card? Maybe update the drivers (with Clean Install option)
