Uniaxial compression of bulk material using a flexible plate via EDEM-FEA coupling is used for studying how granular or bulk materials behave under vertical compression by a deformable (flexible) structure.
The granules are modelled using EDEM, while the compressing plate, enclosed box and punch is modelled as deformable bodies using OptiStruct (Explicit).
Objective:
To simulate bulk material compaction under uniaxial loading by a flexible plate, to predict:
- Deformation of the plate using FEA
- Behavior of the bulk material using EDEM
