Applying SPC to surface before meshing

Description: I'm trying to get up to speed with the 2024 version of OptiStruct, having previously used older versions. In the past, when applying constraints, I could apply SPC by selecting a surface, and then mesh the surface later. Now using 2024, the selector only seems to let me choose between nodes and sets and I can't see to select a surface for applying SPC (in the Select Nodes selector, I see that I change pick "By Surface" but in the absence of nodes that doesn't seem to do anything. Is it no longer possible to apply constraints to geometric entities prior to meshing?

    Hi, df_umich,

This is our long term plan to allow load definition on geometry, so that the sets get automatically updated when remeshing.

However, this is still under development and we do not have the vision yet about the target release version.

In the case of nodal conditions (forces, spcs etc), it still has limitations. But for conditions applied to elements (pressure, contact), you can activate some options to update the conditions

when updating the mesh. Please, see an example attached.

    Regards,

    Arthur
