i'm using HM 2024.1 and this can be found inside the design variable:

    Hi @Mr_Urban,

Kindly provide us more details on the requirement of performing multi-material optimization & the solver to be used after model creation in HyperMesh.

Based on the details provided, we will suggest accordingly on the query.

    Many thanks.

    Kind Regards

Thank you very much for your answers, Koga and Sing!

In fact, I haven't even managed to analyze a simple part using Hypermesh with optistruct and 1 material. There are always errors, sometimes a material error, sometimes a property error or a configuration error; I haven't managed to fix this yet.

And the professor supervising my research wants me to optimize any part (cantilever beam or L-shape), for example, using multimaterial (steel/aluminum or aluminum/copper or hard plastic/soft plastic).

After I manage to do a simple analysis, I will need to do others with multimaterial. It could be a very simple part or structure, like these academic examples.

    Hi @Mr_Urban,

    Thank you for the response.

Since, you are having issues with respect to analyzing the HyperMesh part, it is first recommended to check with HyperMesh/OptiStruct experts on resolving the analysis related issue.

To do so, kindly write to hwsupport@altair.com to get experts help on the same.

Once you have the HyperMesh file ready which can execute without any errors, you can check HyperStudy software which can perform design exploration studies such as DOE, Optimization etc. with different material types (steel/aluminum or aluminum/copper or hard plastic/soft plastic) for your requirement.

Note: one requires a HyperMesh file with no errors to use HyperStudy.

One can learn more about HyperStudy using the e-learning module link https://learn.altair.com/course/view.php?id=602

    Many thanks.

    Kind Regards
