Accessing the Altair License from the Altair License Utility

Important:  If the product you are using has a File > License menu, please refer to this article Accessing Altair License from an Application. Otherwise, follow the below steps to access the Altair License.

The instructions differ if you are using Altair License Utility 15.x or Altair License Utility 14.5.4 or older. To find out your version of Altair License Utility, please refer to the Help > About menu of the Altair License Utility.

 

 

Accessing the Altair License from the Altair License Utility version 15.x

1. Start the Altair License Utility.

  1. On Windows, if you have Altair License Manager installed,  this is located in the start menu under Altair License Server 15.2. You can also directly start it from <ALM_INSTALL_PATH>\bin\almutil_gui.exe (usually C:\Program Files\Altair\licensing15.2\bin\almutil_gui.exe).
  2. On Windows, if you have HyperWorks installed,  this is located in the start menu under Altair 2022.2. You can also directly start it from <HW_INSTALL_PATH>\security\bin\win64\gui\almutil_gui.exe (usually C:\Program Files\Altair\2022.2\security\bin\win64\gui\almutil_gui.exe).
  3. On Linux, if you have Altair License Manager installed, you can directly start it from <ALM_INSTALL_PATH>/bin/almutil_gui (by default /usr/local/altair/licensing15.0/bin/almutil_gui).
  4. On Linux, if you have HyperWorks installed, you can directly start it from <HW_INSTALL_PATH>/security/bin/linux64/gui/almutil_gui (by default /root/2022.2/altair/security/bin/linux64/gui/almutil_gui).

2. Click the Managed Licensing tab.

3. Fill in your Altair One credentials.

4. Click Sign In.

A message will indicate that the authorization succeeded.

5. Click OK.

6. Close the Altair License Manager Utility.

 

You can now start using your Altair software.

 

Accessing the Altair License from the Altair License Utility version 14.5.4 or older

1. Login to Altair One.

2. Go to the User Profile section of the Altair One Admin portal: https://admin.altairone.com/updateprofile.

3. Switch to the Authorized Machines tab:

4. In the top-right corner, click Generate Auth Code.

An authentication code will be generated.

5. Click the copy icon.

6. Start the Altair License Utility.

  1. On Windows this is located in the start menu under Altair 2021.2. You can also directly start it from <ALTAIR_INSTALL_PATH>\security\bin\win64\gui\almutil_gui.exe (usually C:\Program Files\Altair\2021.2\security\bin\win64\gui\almutil_gui.exe).
  2. On Linux, you can directly start it from <ALTAIR_INSTALL_PATH>/altair/security/bin/linux64/gui/almutil_gui (by default /root/2021.2/altair/security/bin/linux64/gui/almutil_gui).

7. Click the Hosted HWU tab.

8. Copy your authentication code under Authorization token.

9. Click Authorize.

A message will indicate that the authorization succeeded.

10. Click OK.

11. Close the Altair License Manager Utility.

 

You can now start using your Altair software.
