SimLab Tutorial Summary: 3D Streamer in an Insulator
Description
The studied device is an insulator separating two conductors, one at high potential, and another one grounded. The device is in the air.
The aim is to study ionized canals propagation (Streamers propagation) with "Streamer Criterion" Load.
Analysis 1: Streamers propagation
The Streamer criterion tool is used for:
- Global computation: all ionized canals which can propagate from the selected surface and for the project potentials difference, are displayed. The Streamer having the highest probability to propagate and possibly leading to a breakdown (minimal Streamer inception voltage) is displayed in red. The computation results (numerical values and curves) correspond to this Streamer.
- Local computation: the Streamer going from the selected point is displayed. The results including the Streamer inception voltage are created
