Overview

A falling object protective structure (FOPS) is an assembly mounted around the cabin of a machine to guarantee overhead protection to the machine operator in the driving position. To be evaluated, the structure must pass a destructive test in accordance with International Standards such as ISO 3449. These standards provides a condition of test, where and object with specific shape and mass is dropped from a predetermined height onto the structure, and a certain amount of energy should be absorbed.

This example shows:

  • Model definition with Elasto-Plastic material and Johnson Cook failure model.
  • Model setup following the standard ISO 3449.
  • Easy management of the impactor position using submodel and include file.
  • Results - Animations and Graphs.
