Bullet impact

The presentation focuses on a ballistic impact quarter model. The bullet considered is a 5.56 x 45 SS109. The target is a 6.5mm 500T Armox steel plate.

  • A ready to use Altair Radioss model of the bullet impacting the steel plate
    • Altair Radioss version is 2023.0.1 and later

Context

Ballistic protective plates have to abide by different standards, depending on their material and applications. Some examples of these standards are STANAG 4569 or EN1522. The 5.56x45 SS109 bullet is part of some of the standards, with varying impact velocities.

Usage/Installation Instructions

The ballistic impact model is a rad file that can be imported in HyperMesh and that can be run with Radioss v2023.0.1.
