Shape optimization
I have created a model in HyperMesh and created my mesh and assigned material & property to it.
I am following HS-4420 (HS-6010): Optimization Study of a Spherical Impactor to Export the shape parameterization from HyperMesh into HyperStudy.
When I go to Tool -> shape -> multiple desvars i am not able to select any shapes. Why is this so and how do I overcome this?
Thanks.

Hi Rajiv,
When you go to tool > shape > multiple desvars and then click on the shape entity selector (yellow shape button) you should see 4 shapes in the list. do you see this?
you can then click on the shape entity selector in this panel and say all or select the white check box to the left of each shape. please elaborate on where exactly during selection as described above, you see a problem.

I have realized that I do not want to alter the features of the model, but rather, just vary length, depth and height of the model. thickness remains constant.
I have no desvars defined in HyperMesh. How do I define them? I'm referring to the Hyperworks Desktop User's Guide -> Contents -> size panel -> to define design variables for size optimization.
My intention is to create design variables to change length, breadth and height of this sea-going barge model.
I require an example and values of how I would be able to create size variables?
For example, I would like to vary my length from 70m to 120m.
Input would be much appreciated, cheers. What do the initial value 1 mean?
And no, I don't see any shapes listed on the left when I click the yellow box

Rajiv,
The variables have to be defined as you say , existing variables would populate in the list as in the tutorial where the database includes the variables.
Initial value is the value of the dimension of the design variable as it is now, i.e. before any iteration as the model is yet to be optimized.
