Is it possible to replace profiles by using optimization (shape)? Like turn an Tube into a Box profile.
My Reader told me he heard thats possible.
I guess its not.
So what is true?
Any help is appreciated.

It is possible to optimize a cross section of a part using a Shape Optimization. Essentially what you do is use the morphing functions from within HyperMesh to alter the cross section, you will save that shape, undo the morph and Optistruct will use the node perturbations from the saved shape as a design variable. Optistruct will then find the optimized shape for the cross section somewhere between the initial state and the morph altered shape. Please refer to tutorial 'OS-5040: Shape Optimization of a Rail Joint' for instructions on how to do this.

    Thank you
