Magnet eddy current loss in Flux 3D

Hello expert

Recently I use Flux 3D to simulate magnet eddy current loss.

I use sensor like attachment file that just measure one magnet loss(Total have 8 magnet).

I also use another sensor that measure 8 magnet loss like attachment.

However, the loss result is the same (0.56W), this is not make sense.

When I use Flux 2D to simulate this motor magnet eddy current loss, it is 1.68W

It's quiet wired.

Is Flux 3D just can measure one magnet eddy current loss?

If Yes, magnet loss in 3D is 8*0.56W=4.48W > 2D result 1.68W. (This make sense)

If anyone know the answer, please reply me.

Thank you

    Hi Hallay,

Are the volume regions in both cases have the same volume?

    Should be different.

Can you share the picture of the magnets? Also, do you have volumes assigned to each volume region?

    Thank you,

    Lavanya

    Hello Lavanya

It's my miss, I don't assign magnet 2-8 in solid type.

Today I assign it and get 8 magnet eddy loss value.

Flux 3D magnet eddy loss value is 5.06 W and Flux 2D result is  1.68 W.

    The ratio is 33.2 %.

Can you tell me why Flux 3D and 2D have different result?

The ratio 33.2% is the same in every case or case by case?

    thank you

  • Hi Hallay,

I need to see both 3D and 2D models, to understand the reason behind the difference.

Is it possible for you to share it?

    Thank you,

    Lavanya
