Material orientation assignment to a composite automotive spring

Hello community,

I am modeling a composite automotive spring where the fiber orientation must follow the shape of the part.

Is there an easy way to assign material orientation? Since I could not figure out how to do it using the available systems.

you are using the old gui (in v 2017?), from 2d panel, select composites sub panel

Then pick material orientation, elements, by vector, pick the 2 nodes that define your required orientation and 'project'

this will set the the THETA angle on each element in order to set the base (0 degree, reference direction)
