How to model permanent deformation of sandwich with aluminum core?
Guys, I need to model a sandwich structure (titanium skin and aluminum honeycomb). The part was connected by bolts. These bolts were over-torqued (too much force while tightening these fastener). Bolts heads left permanent (nonlinear deformation) damage in skin and sandwich core. What is the best way to model it using Altair products? May be, there are some tutorials/videos/examples? Thank you!

Hi Vladimir
You can either start to use Hypermesh or Simlab as preprocessor and use optisruct as solver
Example video HM
HyperWorks 2021: Bolt Pretensioning (youtube.com)
and some tutorials on the Optistruct help section
OS-E: 0015 Pretension Analysis using Gasket Material (altair.com)
or in Simlbab
Altair for SimLab Learning Center
You can also find material on Altair learning pages for non-linear set-up's
Altair OS Non-Linear 2022.2:
there is a pre-tension section in this elearning, Exercise 4
In terms of modelling, I would have started with 3solid layers (node to node mesh) and with a softer core!
Hope this can help!
Kind regards
