Hello, I'm in a introduction to finite element class and i'm trying to figure out how to apply a strain to my mesh in optistruct. I'm trying to apply strain to the nodes on the right side of my plate and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

When I run my optistruct, i get the following error.

    error #23

SID 1 used on Case Control data SPC is missing in bulk data

I'm led to believe this means that the SPC is assigned incorrectly somehow in the load collector, but how?

I created a SPC which I used to constrain nodes on the left side.

and I used an SPCD to apply a displacement to the right side.

I then used a load collector to call the SPC and SPCD.

    Hi Warren,

You need to apply an SPC on same nodes where you have SPCD. Please update and try again.

Okay, I got it to work thank you. I have one more question though. I ran the analysis using optistruct and get results for overall displacements, but how can I get this information for a specific point on my mesh?

    Hi Warren,

Do you mean at a specific node?

If yes, you can you use query panel in HyperView to fetch displacement for specific node(s).
