Tool geometry optimization with optistruct
Sir,I am doing my Mtech project as single point cutting tool geometry optimization with optistruct. I am not understanding how topology optimization is running and giving results. My topic is mimizing the volume with in the allowable deflection. The optistruct giving results in 9 iterations, but I am not understanding how it is calculating.please tell me about thsese iterations. Thanks in advance sir..

Hi,
I cant comment on the algorithm in the background.
But, in general the solver looks for an objective, constraint and tolerance.
In order to get a successful result, the solver check for convergence criteria which is call Gradient based Criteria. If the model obeys this criteria, the run comes out with a feasible design.

Sir,is it possible to give user defined code for optistruct like MATLAB code and in topology optimization based on desity method how the density will be redistributed in the material...

Sir please see the following attachment of output result and explain how iteration 0 is performed based on designed and non design volume and how minimisation of volume taken place in successive iterations
