Calibration of an Composite Material in Compression
Hi erveryone,
I'm trying to do a composite crash analysis. So I have to calibrate a square Composite Plate, consisting as 9 Elements, regarding the released Energy. I perform tensile and compression tests for every materialdirection. In tensile direction the model worked pretty fine, but in compression occure some unexpected troubles. Compared with the theory, the three Elements of the middlesection should be deleted and the total energy of 7 Elements should be released. With a coarse mesh size of 3 and 5mm this work well, but I cant't reproduce this behaviour with a finer mesh of 1mm.
Any ideas??
I use Law 25 in Crasurv formulation and tried out different constraints (Imposed velocity and displacement) and element formulations (QBAT, QEPH) but no effect.
Best regards

Hello,
According to theory Wp > Wpmaxci and the calculated stress is beyond the compression yield stress. Do you see this condition satisfied?
Can you share the model files in compression and in tension?

Hi,
Yes this condition is satisfied but in a wrong way. In tension there should be necking in the middle row and in compression the material should be bulged in the middle row. By the time the middle row should be deleted. I have sendet you the 1mm Models and to compare the 3mm Models.
