Hello,

Does anyone know why my ply direction is directed in both ways, while only apllied 1 ply? with direction 45.

Is this normal?

I also would like to know how to drape a laminate over a curved surface. Is this the option shown underneath?

Here I also see the arrows in all directions:

    Hello,

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>image.thumb.png.34128d6c94b73d09e6568b91be8a265e.png

I think I have solved the questions above. But now there is another problem:

I have to orient the arrows all in the direction of the y-axis. Since the orientation x, y, z, is assigned to all elements, for the circled ply, the orientation should be changed.

    How can I do this?

    thanks in advance

Anyone able to help me with above question?

Due to the selected orientation the direction in the circles wall is not what it should be. (It should be redirected towards the Y-direction)

    Best regards,

    Joep

    Hi @Joep

Sorry, somehow I missed this question.

Looks like an element references a PCOMPP card without being also referenced by a STACK card. Can you check this and update the same?

If you still face the issue, please share the model file. Please use the file transfer link in my signature to share the model file

    Hello Prakash.

No problem, you've already helped me a lot.

I have not used stack cards since I do not know how yet.

Is it required for this analysis?

Can it be the result of the orientation (systems) I indicated?

@Joep Yes, that is because no vector or system is assigned to the elements.

You can create a system and assign to elements or use vector notation to align the material direction.

The orientation what you see on PLY card is the angle of the fiber for respective plies.

If you are using PLY, you need to use STACK card to stack the plies which make a laminate.

    Hello Prakash,

Thanks for the help. I think this worked now!

I also use the Laminate Stack card option.

    thanks, best,

    Hello,

I am using a model which contains multiple plies and I would like to add shear strength in between plies.

Is this called interlaminar shear strenght?

I know the options to assign ply strenght and properties but I cannot find how to assign shear strength (and tensile strength?) in between two plies.

    Best regards,

    Joep

    Hi,

You can use allowable shear field on MAT8 card which defines the bond shear or interlaminar shear.
