Hi, guys,

I am running modal analysis with OptiStruct and try to export the Stiffness and Mass Matrices on two nodes. But got an error message:

*** ERROR # 802 ***

Repeated factorization failure due to panel limitations on pivoting.

Solver error no. = -514

subcase id = 1

default panel size = 128

increased panel size = 2048

Please increase panel size and rerun the problem.

Can someone tell me what is panel size mean and how to increase it? Thanks.

Hi,

Please let us know what is the version of HyperWorks you are using.

This error was reported as an issue in 12.0 but solved in 13.0. Please try in HW 13.0

I am using 13.0 version.

It's not a common issue to me, just happened once on a particular model and went away after I deleted some RBE2 elements. But still, I am interested in knowing the reason.
