In Optistruct help strain >> extras >> MECH, THER, PLASTIC
- MECH - Output Mechanical strain (in addition to total strain).
- PLASTIC - Output Plastic strain (in addition to total strain).
- Whats the difference between mechanical and Plastic Strain ?
- vonmises strain is the total strain ?

Whether mechanical strain = elastic strain + Plastic strain

From Hooke's law Strain= (Sigma/E)+EpT(Thermal Strain). Here we have two parts thermal strain and mechanical strain. The first part is Mechanical strain.
Plastic strain is calculated beyond yield point.
