Hi,

I am using Hypermesh and Radioss to simulate the deformation of a sandwich panel. I have to define the contacts between ttwo panels but I am not able to do it. The contacts defined by me using Interfaces(csurfs) option is not being read during the simulation due t which the topmost panel flies off.... Only the top panel deforms... Can Someone please help me with this? Its urgent... and thanx for your replies...

Without more details it will be hard to give reasonable advice. Maybe it is due to one of these:

    - wrong reference of the elements in the CONTACT card

    - inadequate contact type (SLIDE, STICK, FREEZE) in CONTACT CARD to prevent unconstrained movement due to applied loading

    Regards,

    Hi,

When I try to give the contact type, I have ony the following options -

Conduction, MBCNTR(rigid contact) , MBCNTDS(deformable contact), NODESET --- according to Hypermesh tutorials for RADIOSS Bulk data

I also noticed in many other places that contacts should be defined as you had said(SLIDE, STICK etc.)..

What should I do now? Waiting for your suggestions and many many thanks for the reply,

If you work in the RADIOSS Bulk Data User Profile (I refer to the recent version HM 11.0) you should have in the interface panel available card images for CONTACT (and others like to ones you mentioned).

Yes, I know what you are talking about but I am using HM 9.0 .. Does it still have the same option for the contat types? And is there any rule that I should give only certain type like (face to face) or (element to element) for each contact type? I am a beginner and I need help in this. Expecting your reply,

I don't know if all these contact option have been already included in HW9.0. From what you explained, I doubt this. HW9.0 version has been released about 3 years ago and since then, a lot of enhancements have been made. Please upgrade to recenct (HW 11.0) version of HyperWorks.

    hi everybody

    i try to a non-linear analysis in version 10.0 ,

but when i send to radioss (bulk data) , solver gives an error.

it's saying 'Undefined SET # MSID (or SSID) on CONTACT 1'

and repeat this message for all interfaces.

when i edit the group (interfaces), i see MSID or SSID box was defined a number.

    what should i do.

You should check if you reference in MSID and SSID the correct entities.

    From online help:

    12. The slave entity (SSID) always consists of grid nodes. It may be specified as:

    • a set of grid nodes, defined using SET(GRID,..) command.

    • a surface, defined using SURF command (the slave nodes are picked from the respective nodes of the SURF faces).

    • a set of elements (shells or solids), defined using SET(ELEM,..) command. Slave nodes are picked from the respective nodes of the elements in the set. For 3-D solids, only nodes on the surface of the solid body are selected; internal nodes are not considered.

    13. The master entity (MSID) may be defined as:

    • a surface, defined using SURF command.

    • a set of elements (shells or solids), defined using SET(ELEM,..) command.

    Hi

I have similar problem regarding contact in Radioss bulk. Problem is that field SSID which cause problems for solver is inactive (show message ERROR) and in this case I can't choose anything. I know what to do but field SSID is INACTIVE so any modification is not possible. Any suggestions ? I'm working on Hyper Works 12.0....

    Hi,

you can update it by sub-panel Interface/add

select slave set and update, SSID will change
