Check the mass by using miniming volume as objective

Composite optimization should be done in three phase using OptiStruct.You can refer to below online tutorial.

For non composite material, the ideal way to check the change in mass is once the optimization is over is do an OSS smooth on the model and check the mass in HM through Tool-->mass calc and select all the elements.
