2D Mesh
Hi,
I'd like to have some advice. I have to mesh a tube with different sections, I use 3D hexahedres. First, I mesh a surface and then I use the general solid map to extrude the elements till the next surface. On the attached picture, I have my extruded 3D elements and a non-meshed surface. I want to mesh the surface to have coincident nodes with the already existent elements. How should I proceed?

Hello,
This can also be done by using the Faces Panel available in the Tools page. There you select only the elements which are in common with the surface you want to mesh. This will generate the faces of the already existent 3D hexahedres. The generated faces will be in the form of 2D elements. Then you simply mesh the surface as it will then consider the elements and have proper contact.

I will write here to not to spam the topics. My question is always about meshing.
I have a box modelled with shell elements. In this box I have some lines modelles with beam elements. The box is filled with a material which should be modelled in 3D. Thus, in my shell box, I have both beam ans 3d elements. What is the right way to build the mesh? I have no problems with creating 2D and 1D mesh, but how can I do the 3d mesh that will take into account my beams? Maybe, there is some tutorial?

Hi Alina,
From the picture above I would recommend you increase the element density, as the circular portion is not well captured.
While meshing the other surface use keep connectivity option so that connectivity between the newly created elements and any adjacent existing elements will be handled. And if needed you can manually equivalence the nodes.
