Note on element : get material with property applied on shell element
Hi,
I'd like to create a note (from hotspot) where the name of the material appears for stress on elements.
When the property is applied on the component, the material name appear with "{entity.materialname}" on the description text field.
However, "{entity.materialname}" shows "N/A" when the property (and so, the material) is applied to the element, even if selection of elements by material using the "result" tab works.
Do you have any idea to fix it ? I'm editing the note to manually enter the material name, but it isn't a satisfactory solution.
Thanks,
Pierre

Hi Marina,
Thanks for your message !
I didn't specify before, but I'm already use to load the model and the result file (the op2, but here, I tried also the h3d) in the advanced mode. I also forget to share my HyperView version : 2024(.0).
So I don't understand why I don't have the material in notes like you…
Also, when I select one element by materials (the second picture), I get the good material in the entity tab, but not under the pointer of the mouse.
Best regards,
Pierre
Hi Pierre,
The note must be assigned to a node or element. To do this:
1. When creating the note, set the selector to "node" or "element"
2. Select a node or element in your model
3. In the entity editor, select "Text" to edit the content of the note
4. Insert field "Material Name" in the description
5. Click "Apply"

Pierre,
It seems that it is not working properly. In this case, I tested it on version 2024.1 and it is working properly, so I would recommend two things:
1. Run the cleanup batch to delete the Altair temporary files, and try this process again
2. If it still does not work, I will suggest that you install a newer version (2024.1 or 2025)

Hi Pierre,
Some model information is not loaded into HyperView with just the results file (h3d). You need to load the input file along with the results file (fem and h3d) and then select "Advanced" in the "Results Mathematical Model" option.
