What is the geometric algorithm for determining whether two polyhedral particles collide in EDEM?
Hi,
We don't publish the specific contact algorithm used in EDEM for polyhedral, it uses a method similar to:
https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/thinking-parallel-part-i-collision-detection-gpu/
You can review some of the physics model references such as:
Nassauer, B., Kuna, M. Contact forces of polyhedral particles in discrete element method. Granular Matter 15, 349–355 (2013). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10035-013-0417-9
