Losing contact faces after deleting solid mesh

Hi

When I create a face from solid and delete solid element to update the mesh, hypermesh (version 13 to 19th) had always kept the contact surfaces (groups) I generated before.

With version 2022 , when  I take the face and delete solid elements,  all segments (new name for group) are deleted automaticaly. It is very annoying while for a simple update in the mesh, I need to create all contact surfaces again.

Is there any work around for this issue? I dont have access anymore to version 19, if I had I would not update to v21.

no I already tried this,  generate over a solid mesh a surface , then take element face of solid and delete solid element. The concat surface elements will be deleted automaticaly.

    Hello

    Yigit Yazicioglu,

the preference "Allow 2D-3D set segment re-parenting" just below the one suggested by Ben should take care of re-assigning contact surface to shell if you delete solid elements, and vice versa. Did you try it?

thanks for your reply. It seems this is the solution but I dont have the same screen you have in preferences.

How can I open the settings you showed in the picture?
