Hanging on Image Miner

I have had a problem with RM which has basically forced me to abandon use. I am on Windows 7 and trying to open RM but the load hangs on loading the image miner extension. I have removed RM several times and re-installed. I loaded the newest version of JAVA (7) as recommended in one post I did find and still the program will not load. Is there a fix anyone knows about or a way to disable this extension so as to not cause the entire program to fail?
