Composite Optimization of radial symmetric shells
Hello,
I am currently working on an optimization of the composite layup for rim shells. After running the free size optimization I receive the unsymmetric results as you can see in the picture attented. The load step is not symmetric, but because of the fact, that the shell is rotating, the plys need to be symmetric and not only locally designed.
So I am wondering at the moment, how to get a global layup, with sufficient ply thickness for the global derived load step.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Kind regards
Dean

Hi Dean,
The model symmetry results are based on loads and boundary conditions. Since your loads and BCs are not symmetric you may not ger symmetric structure results.
You can try including pattern grouping constraints on Free Size card and check if that gives any satisfactory results for you.
