RADIOSS error BC

Hello everyone

I have this model called 'taumelblech'. In this one, I want the pipes to only move in vertical direction(Y-direction). For that I did use the BCs option in RADIOSS and I did restrict the motion in all the directions except Y. However, in the animation the pipes are still moving in other directions. Could anyone help me with this?

Thanks
Sincerely

    Hi,

Since the base plate is a kind of 'toppling' the pipes will behave like this.

You can try connecting all the pipes to an independent master node and apply the bcs (all dof fixed except Ty) on the rigid master node.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I am bit new here so could you explain the steps on how to create that master node?

    Hi

So i went to 1D panel, then rbe3 selection and then I selected the nodes for all the 3 pipes. The I checked all the boxes other than 'dof2', which I assume is 'y' direction.

    Is it correct?

    Hi,

From 1D select rigids and create rigids for all the pipes. Before that create a node at the centre of these 3 pipes and choose the same as the master node.

Choose all the 3 pipes and select this node as independent node.

I even tried by defining some other node, but it still says the same warning 'Error in rigid body definiton 1026'

    Hi George

Even thought the model works fine, I am not allowed to couple the motion of all three pipes. Hence, I cannot creater master rigid node to constrain the motion of the pipes. Is there any other way?

    Thanks

    Hi,

When the master node is constrained the similar effect is applied to all the slave nodes, that is all the slave nodes are constrained similarly to the master node.

Instead in your case you are directly constraining the slave nodes. Both the cases it gives a similar effect but in this case only the master node location matters which is exactly at the center of all 3 pipes. This approach seems to be the only way to simulate like you need.
