BC with certain displacement allowed

Hi there,

I could not find anything to this topic, so I started a new thread.

I am trying to constrain certain nodes of my modelthat allows for example a displacement in x-direction in a certain range, let's say -10mm to 10mm from it's initial position. Just like a slide bearing with end stops. I attached a screenshot for further explanation.

I could not find any options in the BCS_Collector. There, I was just able to constrain the directions fully. Is there a simple possibility to acchieve this or do I have to model some sort of end stop. I would be very thankful, if someone could give me a hint!

Greetings!

    Hi Daniel,

I do not think that Boundary conditions can model such behavior directly, as they do not allow to be updated during the simulation.

My suggestions would be to model end stops as:

-type 4 springs attached between cylinder nodes and dummy nodes with fixed BCs and non-linear stiffnes curve to model end stop constraint.

-contact interface defined between 2 rigid planes with fixed BCs perpendicular to x axis at the limit distance as master surfaces and cylinder nodes as slave.

    Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your reply, then I'll try it with a workaround!
