Join us for a community conversation on the impact of rotor deformation on the performance of high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). As these machines operate at increasingly higher speeds, centrifugal loading can deform the rotor and reduce the machine air gap.
This session presents a simulation-driven, multiphysics workflow that uses Simcenter Optistruct to calculate rotor deformation and Simcenter Fluxmotor to evaluate the resulting electromagnetic and NVH behavior. Attendees will learn why deformation-induced air-gap variation should be considered when designing and optimizing high-speed electric machines.
Key Learnings:
- Understand a multiphysics simulation workflow for evaluating rotor deformation and machine performance
- Quantify air-gap reduction effects in high-speed electric machines
- Evaluate the electromagnetic trade-offs associated with rotor deformation
- Assess the NVH consequences of air-gap variation and rotor displacement
Presentation will be followed by a live Q&A.
