PSIM cannot authorize Altair Units although the license already exists in Altair License Utility

Hello,

I am trying to use PSIM with my Altair One Student Edition license.

In Altair License Utility, when I try to activate my license key again, I receive the following message:

“Error activating license: License already exists in license store.”

So it seems that the license key is already registered in the local license store.

However, when I open PSIM and go to License Setup → Altair Units → Authorize, I get the following error:

“Unable to retrieve authentication code from portal due to network error”
“SOAP 1.1 fault SOAP-ENV:Client [no subcode]”
“End of file or input: message transfer interrupted or timed out”

I also checked the License Usage tab in Altair License Utility, but I cannot find any PSIM-related feature. Because of this, PSIM still cannot authorize or detect a valid license.

Could you please help me understand whether this is a network/authentication issue with Altair Units, or whether my Student Edition license does not include the correct PSIM entitlement?

The error “SOAP 1.1 fault SOAP-ENV:Client [no subcode]” means the DNS lookup failed on the proxy server you specified. This happens when the proxy address is incorrect, the server cannot be reached from your network, or there’s a DNS configuration issue. Since this relates to your network or computer, your university IT team will be best placed to help resolve it.

The message license already exists in license store means the activation is already successful.

You could go to the location of the license in the license store, this is the path in the activation tab under the license store field, delete the .lic file there and then reactivate.
