PSIM Student License activation error: already activated with different HostIDs

Hello,

I am trying to use Altair PSIM 2026 Student Edition on my current PC.

I previously used PSIM 2023, and after reinstalling / reconfiguring the environment, I am now getting this error when activating my student license key:

"Error activating license: This license was already activated using different HostIDs."

I also experienced:

• "Connection to the license server is lost" inside PSIM
• Activation tab initially showed "Unable to access license store"
• After changing License Store to System, the activation proceeds, but then it says the key was already activated with different HostIDs

I think my old activation is still tied to a previous HostID from an older setup.

Could you please reset or deactivate the previous HostID activation for my student license key so I can activate it again on my current machine?

Your previous license key activation is now deactivated in Altair one, you can now reactivate the student license with the same license key.

Deactivation and reactivation feature is only if a computer breaks down or reformatted and is only allowed a few times per user preprogrammed into the system.

You can deactivate the license from one machine and reactivate in another by yourself if you have access to both machines as per –
